Manchester City have recently suffered a massive blow in the form of an injury to star man Rodri.
The centre midfielder has been so impressive he’s even been suggested to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or. The 28-year-old is remarkably personally unbeaten across his last 52 games, showing how valuable he is to the club.
However, a cruciate ligament tear in City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal may have ruled him out for the rest of the season. It’s understood that Rodri has since gone to Spain for a special consultation to understand the extent of the injury.
Now, The Citizens are looking at one of Manchester United’s long-term targets to replace their injured superstar.

Manchester City target Morten Hjulmand
Caught Offside have reported that City are now scouting Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand who has been a target for Manchester United for some time now.
It’s understood that the Danish international has a release clause of approximately £63 million, however, the Premier League giants are valuing him at closer to £50 million.
Earlier this summer it was reported that Sporting would only be selling their now captain if the release clause was met which could cause an obstacle to City.
It’s also known that Hjulmand has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League eventually, which could give a boost to the pair of Manchester sides.
However, other Premier League rivals, Arsenal, are also interested in the 25-year-old, meaning a three-way battle could be setting itself up between the English sides to land the midfielder.
Unfortunately for United, this isn’t where the interest in Hjulmand stops, with the likes of Barcelona and other clubs across Europe also monitoring the Dane’s progress.
