The battle that’ been ongoing between the Premier League and Manchester City is a step close to its conclusion.
City have been accused of 115 charges of breaching Premier League Financial Fair Play rules stretching for nine years between 2009/10 and 2017/18.
Within the charges against them are allegations of inaccurate financial reporting, non-compliance with UEFA Financial Fair Play rules, non-disclosure of managerial compensation for Roberto Mancini’s pay, non-disclosure of players’ remuneration and lack of cooperation.
The proceedings began on 16th September at London’s International Dispute Resolution Centre, with the case being kept confidential until now.
Last week saw both parties deliver their final statements in the lengthy battle that is set to conclude next year.
Now, a three-man panel will be considering the evidence, finally delivering a verdict in the coming months.
However if City are found guilty of the more serious charges put against them, they could face massive financial penalties, points deduction and a potential relegation.
The Daily Mail has confirmed that although City have denied any wrongdoing, their 115 charges have now increased to 130 following an administration issue.
The report explains also that in the more likely event that an agreement on the resolution is not reached, either side could launch an appeal. This appeal could push a final verdict until the end of next season, causing the state of limbo to continue.
It’s also reported that Manchester United as well as Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all lodged a legal notice against City. The move comes as an aim to seek compensation should City be found guilty of the charges.
