Manager, Global Expansion & Payment Partnerships Services (GEPP)




The Role

  • Flutterwave is seeking a dedicated Manager to join our Global Expansion & Payment Partnerships (GEPP) Services team. This role is central to building scalable partnerships with Merchants of Record, assisting in the application and renewal of regulatory licenses, and coordinating end-to-end merchant onboarding with payment partners and acquirers. The ideal candidate will excel at managing cross-functional collaboration, compliance, and operational efficiency to support Flutterwave’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Standardize and Scale Merchant of Record Partnerships:

  • Develop and implement scalable processes to support partnerships with Merchants of Record, allowing Flutterwave to offer domiciliation and collections agent services.
  • Ensure all processes comply with regulatory standards and align with company goals.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams, including legal, compliance, and operations, to optimize Merchant of Record functions.

Regulatory License Applications and Renewals:

  • Manage regulatory payment license applications and renewals in alignment with Flutterwave’s strategic goals.
  • Work with regional GEPP teams, legal, and compliance teams to ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions and adjust processes as required.
  • Merchant Onboarding Coordination with Payment Partners/Acquirers:
  • Lead end-to-end coordination for merchant onboarding with payment partners and acquirers to fulfill partner requirements for visibility into sub-merchants.

    Collaborate with the data team to identify eligible merchants, ensuring accurate data processing and segmentation.
  • Coordinate with the seller risk team to review and shortlist merchants, ensuring alignment with risk management standards.
  • Manage the process of finalizing and sending approved merchant lists to payment partners/acquirers for review and approval.
  • Partner with the professional services team to profile and configure payment credentials for approved merchants, ensuring seamless activation.

Risk and Compliance Oversight:

  • Develop risk management strategies to ensure that all GEPP Services activities are compliant with local and international regulations.
  • Liaise with the seller risk team to mitigate potential risks associated with merchant partnerships and licensing activities.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on the status and outcomes of Merchant of Record partnerships, regulatory license applications, and merchant onboarding processes. ○ Analyze operational data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to team members and other stakeholders on MoR and regulatory licensing processes.
  • Industry Networking: Stay engaged with industry networks and forums to keep abreast of regulatory developments and emerging trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in e-commerce, payment processing, or a related field, with at least 2 years specifically in managing licensing agreements.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to e-commerce, payment processing, and licensing.
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms in licensing agreements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with contract management software is a plus.
  • Strong ethical values and integrity, with a commitment to upholding legal and regulatory standards.
