Manchester United have been having a horrible season, in part due to terrible luck with injuries. As soon as a player gets better, two more go down with injuries.
The most recent international break has been very positive with regard to injuries, as most of the injured players started making their way back. The bad luck seems to have come back to haunt The Red Devils as two more centre backs suffer fresh injuries.
Manchester United centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martínez will both be out of action for at least a month due to muscle injuries.
The two defenders ironically came on for each other, and they are now headed to the physio room together.
The Swedish captain came off with a hamstring issue over the weekend at Brentford for Lisandro Martínez in the 69th minute. Lindelof’s issue has turned out to be more than just a little niggle, and he is expected to be on the sidelines for at least a month.
Lisandro Martínez who was only making his way back from injury made his first appearance for the club since February and he too as unfortunately picked up another injury.
Licha has now sustained a calf strain in training and is unavailable for the next few games.
Man Utd have 9 league games left, which are all so important in the long run if the club is to make it into the Champions League next season.
Among the games the two defenders will miss include two very crucial big clashes this week: at Chelsea on Thursday and the big North West derby against Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford.
There also is the question of the F.A Cup Semi final tie against Coventry City, which is also just as important if United are to win any silverware this season.
All in all it is going to be tough going for ten Hag and his Reds going forward with only 3 senior centre backs fit in Rapha Varane, Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire who is only coming from injury himself.
