Manchester United have been time and time again linked with Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen. As recently as last month, United were reportedly in the lead for the Nigerian hitman, as teamtalk reported.
A fresh report from Gazzetta Dello Sport may give some hope to Man United and all his others suitors, as Osimhen is one of the hottest properties around Europe as far as strikers are concerned.
According to said report, Napoli have identified Lille forward Jonathan David as the replacement for Victor Osimhen, who could leave the club during the summer transfer window.
The report goes ahead to state that Napoli are heading into a rebuild period and only three loyalists may remain at the clubs when all is said and done: Osimhen is not one of the 3 names.
The Scudetto holders have been having a torrid season, one clearly evidenced by having 3 different managers, which could very well have prompted the rebuild in question.
Page 28 of this Gazzetta dello Sport, clearly outlines how Napoli will begin rebuilding with said loyalists who include Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Matteo Politano and Stanislav Lobotka.
Napoli identifying a replacement for Osimhen could very well point to their resignation to their top hitman leaving in the summer.
This is certainly good news to United and all other clubs who were looking for his signature.
Osimhen’s release clause is believed to be up to £110m, which could mean only a team with a sizeable budget can afford to even make a move for him.
