Manchester United are keen to sign some new talent to their midfield this summer.
Currently the only deal in plan in the midfield is with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte, however the French club are holding firm on their valuation of the Uruguayan. Ugarte has reportedly agreed personal terms with United, with the whole deal now hinging on an agreed transfer fee.
In the meantime, United look set to miss out on other targets Youssouf Fofana and Desire Doue who are looking more likely to join AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
With the Red Devils not wanting to miss out on another deal, the club are looking back at their shortlist of options.
United return to Morten Hjulmand
With so much talent across Europe, United have scoured the leagues for their shortlist.
A previous firm favourite comes in the form of Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon. The Danish international has been a strong feature in the middle of the park for the Portuguese side.
Hjulmand is considered as less aggressive than Ugarte, with an appreciation of his good positional awareness and his experience playing possession-based football.
Football Transfers claim that no offers or have been submitted for Ugarte despite reports saying the opposite. It’s understood that United are currently not content with PSG’s €70 million asking price.
Although at this time, the release clause for Hjulmand is £69 million, we’re yet to hear if United will be attempting to negotiate a lower fee.
