Man High On PCP Accused Of Fatally Shooting 9-Month-Old Son in the Head

A tragic incident unfolded in the city’s Magnolia neighborhood, where a 35-year-old father has been arrested and faces murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing his 9-month-old son while under the influence of drugs.

On Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Seattle Police Department officers responded to a distress call from a home in the Magnolia neighborhood. Upon arrival, they encountered a woman who reported that her infant had been shot. Tragically, Seattle Fire Department medics pronounced the baby boy deceased at the scene.

Two individuals were detained by the police for questioning in connection with the child’s death. The investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Dion Montgomery, had allegedly shot at two other individuals walking down the street. Fortunately, he missed them but hit parked cars instead.

According to statements made by the woman who called the police, she confronted Montgomery about the gunshots she heard in their home. He reportedly claimed that it was a blank round. Shortly after, Montgomery left the house, and the woman discovered her infant son lifeless.

The woman further disclosed to the authorities that she and Montgomery had smoked marijuana earlier that day. However, she claimed to be unaware that he had also admitted to using PCP, a powerful hallucinogenic drug. Montgomery allegedly attributed his actions to “demons” that compelled him to shoot his own child.

In the past, the woman stated that she had noticed Montgomery’s unsettling demeanor and had attempted to avoid him when he exhibited a “weird look in his eyes.” She also revealed that he had previously attempted to harm her. Montgomery was subsequently booked into King County Jail on charges of homicide, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Montgomery confessed to using the drug phencyclidine, commonly known as PCP or angel dust, on the day of the incident. His arrest records indicate that he has been charged with murder, assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The woman recounted that she was inside the bathroom when she heard a gunshot. Upon questioning Montgomery, he claimed to have fired a blank round. Disturbed by the noise, she rushed to check on her baby and tragically discovered that he had been shot in the head. In a state of panic, she immediately sought help by calling for assistance outside. The woman also informed the police that her husband regularly carried a firearm and had purchased PCP approximately a week prior to the incident.
