According to police officials, a 57-year-old male was found next to a pool of blood with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The wounded man was rushed by EMS to St. Luke’s hospital and last listed in stable condition, cops said

We spoke with two people who were out for a walk when they found the wounded man on the ground next to a pool of blood. The couple said the injured man looked to be responsive and was calling out for “help” when they walked up to the scene.

No arrests at this time. Police radio transmissions described a person of interest as a shirtless black male, wearing dirty gray pants who fled the following the shooting.

We also spoke with a worker at a neighborhood pop up car detailing and tire shop across the street from the Shell gas station and near the crime scene.

The shop worker mentioned seeing a disheveled man fleeing the scene without a shirt on but was busy working with a loud drill and didn’t hear the shooting. The worker only remembered seeing the shirtless man leaving the area.

Incident was reported at around 10am, within the confines of the NYPD 26 precinct near W 124th St & Hancock Pl. in the Morningside Heights neighborhood in Manhattan, NYC.
