THE JOB AT A GLANCE:

Contract Duration: Permanent

Supports the Maintenance Manager in ensuring that the plant is mechanically and electrically operational at all times, through direct daily communication with engineering staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Attributes and Competencies

Maintenance

  • Do planned maintenance scheduling, update schedules and sign off on completed schedules
  • Conduct plant inspections, and issue unplanned maintenance schedules
  • Issue job cards and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure maintenance staff carry out correct repairs
  • Ensure replacement equipment is properly overhauled for re-use
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are properly and correctly completed
  • Report all maintenance problems and repairs to Engineering Manager
  • Report on all spares required for next maintenance stoppage

People Management

  • Promote a high performance culture.
  • Engage regularly with employees through invocoms, union engagements.
  • Identify and develop Talent and competency gap closing actions.
  • Ensure training is undertaken as per PDP’s
  • Ensure workplace discipline and manage ER issues in line with Tiger Brands policies and procedures.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Ensure and maintain safe working conditions for employees and equipment based on risk assessments and compliance with OHSAct.
  • Instill an environmentally conscious mindset within the manufacturing environment (H2O, noise pollution, utilities, landfill)
  • Appointed as GMR 2.7 for the site

Finance

  • Accurate and timely reporting (Supply Chain, environmental, scorecard)
  • Instrument calibrations
  • Assist in evaluating all readings taken on plant before submitting to Engineering Manager
  • Conduct root cause analysis for all breakdowns
  • Drive implementation of PM pillar of MECP
  • Quality
  • Equipment setting as per SOP
  • Process check alignment
  • Hygiene
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Root cause analysis and preventative actions
  • Essential spares to be reviewed and available
  • Compliance to BMR guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualification  

  • National N Diploma with Trade Test Electrical/Mechanical or National S Diploma electrical/Mechanical.       

Minimum experience required:

3 – 5 Years of experience in a similar role with the following:

  • Computer literate
  • CMMS – experience of computerized management maintenance systems
  • Understanding of practical implementation of OHSAct
  • Bakery process and equipment experience- advantageous
  • Finance – budgeting and CAPEX planning
  • Continuous improvement
  • Environmental knowledge
