The dirtiness in Calabar is becoming worst as the day past by where even a mad man could not bear it but carries his broom to sweep the roads.
But when is this going to stop? It’s a question for the government for Cross Riverians are not used to dirty streets neither environment. Because in recent times there was a report about Diarrhoea outbreak in the state in which the state Governor debunked and also headlines were made over this same issue. May be because it hasn’t affected their lives that’s why they show little or no concern.

Our correspondent recorded this video with few photos of this mad man sweeping a popular street at Et-Agbor Layout. The street name is Edim Ekong Oqua Street, the street that leads from Ujimco Filling Station to UNICAL Hotel, Eta-Agbor, Calabar Municipality. The mad man was stress-fully sweeping the refused dump road under a hot sun of about 32 degree Celsius and when he noticed our correspondent was filming him, he then walk towards him and asked for a token to buy bread and Geisha in which our correspondent delightfully gave him a N100 note. With joy arousing from his gut, he then went back happily and continued his sweeping.

Does it mean that the ministry of Waste Management is lazy in that they have to live the streets unkept or it’s the fault of the Government not to have paid their salaries? For there was a time we reported the government sacked more than 250 road sweeping after they complain of not being paid 11-months salaries. We longer understand the government policy, for this sweeping of roads and waste disposal is a thing the people are used to since the Donald Duke era.
