While many have been quick to point out it looks like a title from a console generation or two past, the upcoming Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact has been turning heads in the fighting game community since our first major gameplay reveal Thursday.
Said reveal showed off six of the three on three fighting game’s roster members, but an additional two more have popped up since, albeit screen time for both is brief thus far. Continue on to see Machi Komancine and Uvogin.
A new video from Bushiroad highlights the six initial characters, Hisoka, Netero, Leorio, Killua, Kurapika, and Gon, and they strike poses and show off special attacks. At the 25 second mark, however, two more familiar faces from the Hunter x Hunter franchise join the fray.
The villainous Uvogin and the cold Machi Komacine strike pre-fight poses and we then see the former actually in the heat of battle, though only to act as a training dummy for others to show their moves off with.
Uvogin is a major antagonist of the series and #11 in the nefarious and mass-murdering criminal organization called the Phantom Troupe. He’s a bigger and more muscular character than most any we’ve seen in Hunter x Hunter yet, and thus may manifest as a slower and heavier hitting type character than his smaller counterparts.
Despite having a tendency to rush into battles he’s an incredibly resourceful and intelligent fighter whose skill all but justifies his eagerness for combat. Uvogin hasn’t mastered any particular martial art, but he does have incredible fighting intuition and boasts extremely durable skin.
Machi is also a member of the Phantom Troupe, known for being the most emotionless and cold of the not-that-warm-to-start-with bunch.
In addition to enhanced strength and reflexes, Machi has preternatural perception that allows her to essentially know things about her surroundings and situations that haven’t been revealed. This is sort of like a Spider Sense, and will be interesting to see how developers might implement it into her gameplay.
She additionally boasts impressive stealth, agility, and muscle control (she can protect her vitals and even close injuries by manipulating them) so seems to have high marks on both defense and offense.
Uvogin and Machi represent the seventh and eighth revealed characters for the what appears to be a surprisingly small roster for a 3v3 team game.
You can briefly spot the seventh and eighth characters to be confirmed for Hunter x Hunter around the 25 second mark in the video here:
