Just yesterday during the Summer GameFest 2024 presentation, M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena were revealed as the characters coming to Street Fighter 6 via the Year 2 Character Pass. Though Capcom initially planned to release M. Bison’s gameplay trailer on June 8, 2024 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET, they ended up unveiling the video significantly earlier.
Initially, no additional information about M. Bison’s release date is revealed, but Capcom would then follow up with a Tweet that indicated that M. Bison would be released on June 26, 2024. That’s less than three weeks from now.
Based on what the trailer shows us, it would appear that M. Bison is suffering from amnesia. He does not appear to recognize the name “M. Bison,” but claims that he’ll take the name for himself.
Just like with all other playable characters in Street Fighter 6 so far, M. Bison can be interacted with during the World Tour mode. He’s encountered while riding a horse. Additionally, M. Bison will ride this horse, with his arms crossed, during his victory animation as well.
Needless to say, a certain questline has been developing in the World Tour mode as DLC characters have been getting added to Street Fighter 6. These quests were hinting at M. Bison’s resurrection all along.
At one point, a confidential document can be obtained during one of these optional quests. It’s here that we learn about a person of interest in Mexico that was observed reviving a dying horse. This horse is likely the horse we see in this trailer.
Despite being an amnesiac, this is very clearly M. Bison in terms of his mannerisms and playstyle. Many of M. Bison’s classic moves return in Street Fighter 6.
As always, purple energy can be seen emanating from M. Bison’s body. However, there are also a few instances in which M. Bison is seen utilizing a green glow instead.
M. Bison has access to his Double Knee Press (also known as the Scissor Kick) and the Psycho Crusher. These are both forward advancing specials that really emphasize M. Bison as a rush down character.
The normal version of the Psycho Crusher is shown to be able to absorb a projectile hit, and still retain a hitbox that hits the opponent. The Overdrive Psycho Crusher, on the other hand, will simply allow M. Bison to phase through the projectile.
The Overdrive Knee Press will now actually launch the opponent in the air. With this, M. Bison can continue juggling the opponent for additional damage.
He also retains access to the Head Press (also known as the Head Stomp) and Devil’s Reverse specials. The combination of these two make M. Bison particularly difficult to anti-air as it’s always a guessing game with him.
The Overdrive Head Press appears to go into a cinematic upon hitting the opponent. However, it would also appear that this move can be used as an OTG (off the ground). When used like this, M. Bison can continue the combo for a little longer.
From Street Fighter 5, M. Bison still appears to have access to a variation of the Psycho Charge, which essentially plants a bomb on the opponent. This was normally only available to M. Bison during his V-Trigger 2, but now it seems like he just always has access to it in Street Fighter 6.
After a set duration, the Psycho Charge will explode, causing the opponent to be launched in the air. We have to imagine that scoring a hit on M. Bison while the Psycho Charge is active will effectively dispel the effect. After all, this is how it worked in Street Fighter 5.
During the trailer, M. Bison is also shown to have an absolutely insane Drive Rush. He’s very quickly able to close space against the opponent from full screen by spending a bar of Drive Gauge.
His level 1 super art is known as the Nightmare Booster. His level 2 super art is essentially his Ultra 2, the Psycho Punisher, from Ultra Street Fighter 4.
Finally, we also get to see his level 3 super art, which can apparently be cancelled into from the initial hit of his Psycho Crusher. The animation for the Critical Art version of this super is likely going to be slightly different.
