Clay Gravesande and AD Smith: Not a Couple. Clay had his reservations about marriage. His father’s infidelity had left a mark on him. AD, however, was confident. She believed they could overcome any obstacle as a couple.
Everything seemed fine. Then came the moment of truth at the altar. Clay, instead of saying “I do,” said “I don’t.” He told AD that he couldn’t, in good conscience, marry her when he knew he wasn’t ready.
Shock. Disbelief. Clay promised AD he would work on himself. He told her, “We’ll go through this together. I don’t care what anyone says. I know I’m not ready for marriage. You deserve the best. If I can’t give you 100 percent, I won’t go there with you when I’m not ready. I can’t say yes right now.”
AD was devastated. Through tears, she declared their relationship a waste of her time. Clay, on the other hand, admitted that financial and emotional issues played a significant role in his decision. He had asked himself, “Am I a husband?” The answer was no. “Am I deeply in love?” Again, the answer was no.
At the reunion, Clay had a change of heart. He admitted he made a mistake and wanted to date AD again. AD, however, was non-committal about a potential reunion.
AD did reveal a bit of gossip. She had been on a few dates with co-star Matthew Duliba after the filming ended. But, she confirmed, they are not together.
