Louis Saha was a fantastic forward at United, making a total of 124 appearances for the club across his four year stint at Old Trafford.

Arriving from Fulham for €17.5 million, he was part of the Red Devils that won the League Cup in 2006, and then went on to back to back  Premier League titles in 2006/07 and 2007/08, also winning the Champions League in 2007/08.

Saha’s 42 goals and 16 assists were a key factor to United securing these titles before leaving Old Trafford on a free transfer, bouncing around the Premier League between Everton, Spurs and Sunderland, before finishing his career in Italy with Lazio.

Wanting to see United back to their winning ways, the Frenchman has come out to tip Zinedine Zidane as a perfect replacement to Erik ten Hag to bring the club back to former glories.

Whilst Saha has appreciated ten Hag’s work as manager, he thinks that Zidane would bring an approach which is uncompromising towards standards which could boost the squad’s mentality.

In an interview with The Mirror, he praised the footballing legend, saying: “Zidane is the manager I would dream to have at Manchester United for obvious reasons, he would do well and he’s motivated to come back into football and I think it will be difficult for him to stay out for another year.”

“They seem to have an approach that just isn’t like something Zidane would have. Too many players at United tend to drop their level and fail to have consistency when you need to have 10 players obsessed about getting them back to the very top to be successful.”

Zidane is no stranger to success, with the former midfielder having won the World Cup in 1998, the Euro in 2000, the Champions League with Real Madrid, two Serie A titles with Juventus and the La Liga with Real Madrid, whilst then winning two more La Liga titles and three back to back Champions League trophies during his time managing Los Blancos.

Saha’s praise for Zidane comes from his days playing alongside him for France when they took their country to the final of the 2006 World Cup, with Saha calling him a “really hard worker” who “never asked his managers for anything.”

Despite these thoughts from Saha, Zidane has not yet been linked with the United job which has previously had a shortlist of four individuals if the Premier League club decided to part ways with ten Hag.

Whilst it’s still uncertain as to ten Hag’s fate at United, it is expected that a decision will be made in the coming days.
