On top of their action-packed fighting games, Arc System Works is also known throughout the world for their fantastic rock ‘n roll and metal soundtracks for their titles, but not all songs can be created equally.
Longtime pro player BC|LordKnight recently put together 2 new tier lists for Guilty Gear Strive and BlazBlue to rank not how strong the characters are, but rather how good their music is.
Although Strive’s soundtrack is a bit divisive in the Guilty Gear fan base, LordKnight says he’s really come to like the new game’s OST with it having more songs he considers bangers than Guilty Gear Xrd, but definitely not Guilty Gear XX.
With that said, he placed 10 tracks in the unabashed Bangers category including Sol Badguy’s theme Find Your One Way, Millia’s Love the Subhuman Self, Nagoriyuki’s What Do You Fight For and I-No’s Requiem although there’s 2 more he considers bangers that take too long to get going.
Strive’s main theme Smell of the Game is one fans seem to either love or feel indifferent about, which LordKnight likely falls in the latter category considering it’s right in the middle at Good.
There’s only 5 tracks he feels are total passes like Leo’s theme Hellfire, Faust’s Alone Infection and Potemkin’s Armor-Clad Faith.
As for BlazBlue, there’s a bunch more characters and songs to pick from, but LordKnight feels the vast majority of them are either very good or total bangers too.
Those at the top include both themes for Valkenhayn and Kokonoe plus a handful of matchup-specific music like both for Ragna vs. Jin and Litchi vs. Arakune.
Out of the dozens of tracks, only 2 get shoved down at the bottom as hard passes, but can you guess who they’re for?
