Lord Seb Coe shares details on first Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force meeting

Earlier last month, it was reported Sir Jim Ratcliffe had formed a committee spearheaded by Lord Sebastian Coe to discuss the options ahead of renovating or reinventing Old Trafford as centredevils covered.

Lord Coe is a certified winner both back when he was running track and now as a master planner having successfully planned the London 2012 Olympics.

The Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force, as it was monikered, has held its inaugural meeting earlier today as Lord Coe confirmed.

Lord Coe was the chairperson alongside other notable dignitaries like Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, Sara Todd, Chief Executive of Trafford Council, and United legend Gary Neville.

Lord Coe confirmed the committee’s first meeting on his social media accounts.

“Yesterday, I chaired the first meeting of the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force to kick off a conversation about how development of a world-class football stadium for the north of England can deliver social and economic benefits for the region,” Lord Coe wrote on his X handle.

He also went to describe how sport can be give urban development a proper push from his experience planning the 2012 Olympics.

“At the London 2012 Olympics, I saw first-hand how sport can be a powerful driver of urban regeneration and I am excited to be part of this project.This meeting marked the start of a multi-stakeholder process to explore options for the stadium and surrounding area, ” he wrote.

Finally, he potrayed a ray of optimism promising to consult Manchester locals all along the journey.

“We are at the start of this journey, and it is too soon to know where it will lead. But we will consult closely with fans and local residents along the way, and keep everyone informed of progress,” he concluded.
