Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Adams.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, my name is Brooke-Ebonie Adams and I am a leading Little Rock Licensed Esthetician for 5 years, I own and operate BodyKandie Beauty Spa where we specialize in full body waxing specifically brazilian waxing, non invasive body sculpting, and skincare. I’m also a Licensed Practical Nurse for 11 years, a wife, and a mom. I’ve always wanted to be in the beauty industry ever since I was a little girl, but at the encouragement of my family, I decided to go into the medical field instead. After I had my third child, I switched my work schedule to weekend option in order to stay at home with him during the week. That of course cut my earnings down to about a fourth of what I was use to making so I began to think of things I could do on the side to make a little extra money and thought about making candles to sell. While researching how to make them, I ran across a few bath and body product recipes and decided to incorporate that as well. As I was making the bath and body products, I started researching about ingredients and different skin types etc., which got me to wanting to learn more about skin. I found an esthetician program in my area, signed up and fell in love with all things esthetics and spa. The rest is history!
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
Anything worth having doesn’t come easily lol. I have had to overcome a lot on this journey as an entrepreneur. First and most important thing being a lack of knowledge of how to actually run a business, how to actually put processes and systems in place, how to bookkeep, how to pay quarterly taxes etc.. I’ve had to overcome feelings of imposter syndrome, no support, financial issues, lack of available funding, bad credit, no babysitter, faulty buildings with no maintence support, machines breaking in the middle of a service, wrong inventory, and yes the list is longer!! They always show the glitz and the glam of entrepreneurship on the internet, but baby we in the trenches before the sunshine. Make no mistake though, if you consistently do the work, you research and learn the game, you come up with a plan and execute, you market like your life depends on it (cause it does) you will be successful, periodt. I tell myself every single day, I can’t give up, no matter what happens I gotta overcome it and keep going. My why is way too important to give up.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I specialize in brazilian waxing, non-surgical non-invasive body sculpting, and I formulate luxurious self-care products. I am 10 times certified in several different spa services/and treatments. Im able to get a client on and off my wax table in 15 minutes or less without a hair left behind. I’m also able to assist woman with enhancing their curves, snatching their waist and lifting and plumping their butts without going under a knife, being down for weeks afterward, and being in excruciating pain. Im also a nurse that has been trained in nutrition, body systems & anatomy, wound treatment etc. To put it quite frankly, I have the knowledge, the technique and the years of experience needed to yield the results that my ideal client is looking for when its comes to all things waxing, body sculpting, and self-care. Not to mention my spa is a whole vibe and a half lol.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Stay the course no matter what. Whatever that course is for you stay on it and keep your eyes on the prize. Stay focused, if you slip up, bounce back and keep going. Make a plan and execute it. Do it however many times you have to. If the first plan didn’t work, then its back to the drawing board, figure out a better plan and execute. Rinse and repeat till you get it. Learn what you need to learn to improve by any means necessary. You gotta pay to play in these entrepreneur streets, save and be ready to invest in whatever it is you need to take you to the next level. Get a good coach or mentor. Surround yourself with some real hustlers, people that get it, so you won’t feel like you in the trenches by yourself. Once you feel like you’re finally getting some traction, help somebody get to where you are.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me means Im blessed enough to be a blessing to others. It means financial security and generational wealth. It also means happiness, well roundedness, as in physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. Being able to choose how you want to spend your day everyday, whether thats work, play, leisure time, rest & relaxation. True unadulterated freedom.
What’s next for you?
I plan to scale my spa to a point where I don’t have to work in it but instead work on it. I would love to open multiple locations to be able to provide jobs to my community that provides them with a comfortable livable salary. I also plan to mentor other beginning solo esthi’s and spa professionals on their journey as well and be a true support system for them by providing affordable resources, classes, etc. and building a supportive community where we all can network and grow together. I feel like my true purpose is to serve and put other people on that want it just as bad as I do. I plan to eventually expand into short term and long term rentals, motivational speaking, podcasting etc. I plan to get the absolute most out of this one life of mine.
