Nigeria forward, Josh Maja cannot hide his excitement after he was presented with the French Ligue 2 award for the month of October.

Maja received the award from Ligue 2 president, Fabien Safanjon at Girondis Bordeaux training ground.

The 24-year-old beat Le Havre’s Gautier Lloris and Julien Maggiotti of Stade Levallois to the individual award

The striker scored two goals in four appearances for Les Girondis in October.

The former Sunderland player is the first Girondis Bordeaux player to win the award since Yoann Gourcuff in April 2009.

“First of all, thank you all for your support, thank you to the coaches, thank you all for the involvement you put in the training and during matches, “Maja told the club’s official website.

“We still have work. It’s only a small part of the job, but we know what we want at the end of the season. So, thank you very much for this trophy.”

He has scored seven goals and recorded three assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for his club this season.
