Manchester United’s summer was eventful, signing five key players to the first squad.
With Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui in defence, Manuel Ugarte in midfield and Joshua Zirkzee up front, the only position not signed to was the goalkeeper role.
Andre Onana has firmly established himself as United’s number-one since replacing David de Gea back in 2023.
His second in command is Turkey international Altay Bayindir. However, his failure to make an impact as a back-up has led to him only making three appearances for the club in cups.
With the lack of game time, talk was circling of the 26-year-old wanting to leave the club.
In turn, this led to United looking outwardly to potential back-up options to replace Bayindir.

Although there were minimal rumours about who these targets were over the summer, one man has now spoken out, confirming United’s interest in him.
Yvon Mvogo rejected Manchester United
FC Lorient star Yvon Mvogo has now spoken out, commenting that he recently rejected a move to United.
Recently in an interview with Blick, the goalkeeper commented on the offer he rejected.
Mvogo was keen to leave Lorient after their relegation, receiving several offers. Mvogo commented the reason for his desire to move came from a want to “continue to compete and prove myself at the highest possible level”.
He also added that he knew this wouldn’t be possible in the second division.
Speaking specifically about the offer from United, Mvogo commented: “Manchester United for example (wanted him as number two). But that wasn’t an option for me. I’m not happy if I can’t stand on the pitch. I currently want to enjoy my time on the field, together with fans and teammates. I want to play for titles and ideally win them.”
Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, he failed to secure a move from Lorient, having now made 13 appearances in Ligue 2.
