The decision has finally been made around Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford and it seems as though Sir Jim Ratcliffe has enough faith in the Dutchman to keep him around a little longer.
With the season-review completed and ten Hag set to remain as manager, all attention now is on the transfer market and strengthening the squad ahead of next season.
United are looking to bolster the squad across the pitch, but somewhere they are desperately lacking is upfront, having only Rasmus Højlund as a centre forward now that Anthony Martial has left the club.
Back in January, ten Hag was desperate for the Red Devils to sign a new striker, but the financial position of the club made this unrealistic to pull off.
Unfortunately United’s transfer budget for this summer is still somewhat limited meaning that the club will need to offload some assets before being able to sign new players, especially any with big price tags.
With Casemiro getting a lot of interest from the Saudi Pro League, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho both being looked at by Borussia Dortmund and Juventus, some big money could be coming to the club soon.
This could be good news for United who have been notified that one of their shortlisted striker targets is free to leave his club with the Ligue 1 team open to offers for the forward.
Metro have reported that LOSC Lille club president Olivier Letang have announced that Manchester United target Jonathan David available to leave this summer.
The 24-year-old joined LOSC Lille from KAA Gent in 2020 for €27 million and since then has been a major force for the squad.
With 84 goals and 18 assists in 183 games across all competitions, David has lead the team to Ligue 1 victory in his French debut season, then winning the Trophee Des Champions against PSG in 2021.
Despite being only 24, David has made 46 international for the Canadian national team, grabbing 26 goals for the Maple Leafs, being included in the squad to compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
David is entering the last year of his contract with LOSC Lille and the Ligue 1 side are looking to sell the striker this summer rather than potentially losing him on a free transfer at the end of his contract next year.
As such a prolific striker with youth still on his side, it’s no wonder that United are looking to bring the Canadian to Old Trafford.
