Key Responsibility Areas
Responsible for conducting on street inspections, regular briefings and checking all reports, records and other documentation.
Issues general and daily instructions to Sergeants and Constables.
Ensures that all vehicles, plant equipment, machinery, firearms, ammunition used by subordinate personnel are maintained in a good state.
Periodically parading and inspecting constables and their equipment prior to their commencement of duty.
Develops and maintains training personnel as a team.
Co-ordinates and controls all research and planning operations activities in the various disciplines i.e. traffic law enforcement, crime prevention, quality control etc.
Co-ordinates and controls the functions regarding the promotion of good public relations between Metro Police and the Communities.
Co-ordinates and controls bus ranks/routes, taxi/minibus taxi ranks, municipal taxi drivers licences driving school, summons and investigation functions.
Responsible for controlling all communication functions such as checking the incident register in the control room, ensuring that incident procedures are promptly updated.
Co-ordinates and controls all specific crime prevention including street crime law enforcement activities in all areas.
Co-ordinates and controls specific speed timing and traffic light enforcement functions.
Essential Requirements
Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Policing or related equivalent qualification.
Registered as a Traffic Officer.
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
Firearm competency
6 years relevant experience of which 3 must be as a Sergeant.
Computer Literacy.
