Cisco Africa held a networking conference yesterday in Cross River State to kick-start their final collaboration between state on a set of goals which will also border on realising CRS Smart City project.
The State Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, ably represented by the Commissioner for Information Communication Technology, Chief Offu Aya, declared the conference open. In his opening speech, amongst other statements, the Honourable Commissioner informed the audience about what he referred to as the 'internet of things'. He said, 'Let's talk about the internet of things'.
In the bid to get further clarification on what the Honourable Commissioner for ICT must have meant by 'the Internet of things' the present author contacted the Media and Publicity aide to the Honourable Commissioner, Mr. Adjah Adjah, who explained that, 'the internet of things is the internet of everything. Like you know everything is going e. We have e-health, e-education, e-church'. Mr Adjah made the point that through CRS Smart City Project indigenes and inhabitants of state will definitely be able to go about some of their businesses, like transportation, buying and selling, etc with the aide of information communication technology.
The information aide particularly noted that Cisco Africa was starting on a sound footing with Cross River State to actualise the Ben Ayade's Smart City project.
