The future of Leroy Sane is currently unclear with his contract at Bayern Munich running out next summer.
Sane joined Bayern back in 2020, moving from Manchester City for £40 million (€49 million).
Since returning to Germany, Sane has been a vital part of the Bayern line-up, making 186 appearances with 51 goals and 50 assists.
However, since the signing of Michael Olise in the summer, Sane has fallen down the pecking order.
This season, the 28-year-old has been primarily making appearances off the bench as Olise’s back-up, wracking up 386 minutes of game time. This works out at only 35 minutes on the pitch in comparison to his previous 76-minute average.
As such, other European clubs are now looking to the winger as a potential free transfer next year.
Manchester United’s interest has been there for some time now, with a free move being even more beneficial to the club given their more limited transfer budgets going forward.
However, Sane has now spoken out about his desire for his future.
Leroy Sane makes a clear statement about his future
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Leroy Sane is very clear about his future, voicing his opinions in a recent media conversation.
The journalist has taken to X to share his findings, sourced from the German outlet BILD.
The comments coming from the report quote Sane as saying; “I follow Premier League football. But the attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. We keep talking”.
From this, it looks as though Sane is keen to stay with Bayern despite his recent fall from the starting line-up, keen to sign a new contract. However, with Olise stepping up, a fight for the top spot may see the winger lose his spot permanently with the German giants.
