Leeds told to make Arsenal pay ‘top, top money’ to sign Raphinha as asking price of ‘at least £65million’ for player is named

Leeds have set Arsenal and other interested clubs a price tag of ‘at least £65million’ for Raphinha, it has been reported.

The Brazil international was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, however, financial complications at the Spanish giants are said to have scuppered that deal.

It’s understood Arsenal’s bid falls well short of Leeds valuation of Raphinha, however

In recent days the Gunners have been tipped to sign Raphinha and The Athletic reports contact has been made with Leeds, indicating their intention to sign him.

However, it’s understood Leeds will reject the offer as it falls well short of their valuation, which transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says is of at least £65m.

And talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan has encouraged Leeds to hold the Gunners to ransom over one of their prized assets.

The former Crystal Palace owner said: “He’s a good player… he’s a very, very talented footballer. He’s the same sort of genre as Riyad Mahrez.

“If Leeds are going to be forced into a situation where they have to sell him then Arsenal have got to pay top, top money.

“I’d want as much as I could possibly get. If they offered £50million, I’d want £70-80m.

Raphinha has not directly asked for a transfer but has previously spoken of his desire to play European football

“I’d want them to work as hard as they possibly can… and make sure they got nothing from me that was vaguely resembling what they thought was a deal.”

Raphinha, who’s also been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham, has enjoyed two fine seasons at Elland Road having scored 17 Premier League goals in 65 top-flight appearances.

It’s understood Leeds are sympathetic to the player’s ambition and are not anticipating he’ll sign a new deal, which is due to expire in June 2024.

The player hasn’t directly asked for a transfer, however, he’s previously spoken of his desire to play European football.

Arsenal have already made three signings this summer having wrapped up deals for defender Marquinhos, goalkeeper Matt Turner and midfielder Fabio Vieira.
