LeBron James can't do enough to prevent Lakers' fall vs Kings

LeBron James is still one of the best players in the NBA despite the Lakers’ constant ups and downs against teams like the Sacramento Kings. The locals did have De’Aaron Fox scoring 29 points and Harrison Barnes scoring 23. Plus, another four players scored double digits this evening. That was more than enough for the Kings to defeat the powerful LeBron James, who was unplayable tonight once again. As a center, Frank Vogel found the most prolific form we’ve seen from LeBron in a long time. He’s already scored 30+ points in a staggering 19 games this season. At this pace, James will get closer to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record faster than anybody thought.

James finished the game with 34 points but the rest of his teammates were utterly disappointing. Without Anthony Davis at his best, Lakers already lost a massive star, especially after his injury. Until a few weeks ago, Russell Westbrook was delivering great results in terms of numbers. However, the recent performances he’s offered have been below what everybody expects from him. Tonight, Russ only got a measly 8 points and 12 rebounds. Even Malik Monk got more than him with 22 points and Austin Reaves with 19. Lakers got closer to the Kings by the end of the third quarter but they ended with a 9-point disadvantage by the end of the game.

What’s next for Lakers and Kings?

After tonight’s defeat, the Los Angeles Lakers are at en even 21-21 record. They will rest for two straight days before making a trip to Denver to face the Nuggets. We need to keep in mind that these Lakers lost against the Kings with a 17-27 record after tonight’s victory. They rest for a day before facing the Houston Rockets on Friday evening. Playing like this, Los Angeles Lakers won’t have a chance to make the Playoffs. Fortunately for them, we are exactly at the middle of the season and there’s still time to steady the ship.
