The final character for Season 3 of Guilty Gear Strive is en route as Slayer will join the playable roster on Thursday, May 30. Ahead of his release, however Arc System Works has offered us all a starter guide so we can see how the vampiric gentleman will fight in his latest iteration.
First thing’s first, the coolest attack Slayer has is called Last Horizon, and it’s a single punch that requires 100% Tension and lops off an incredible 66% of his opponent’s health bar.
We’re not sure how often Last Horizon will come into play given its high risk/reward nature, but we’re sure Slayer players will be using his Dandy Step special multiple times every round.
This maneuver is a somewhat simple dash, in and of itself, which allows Slayer to move closer to or even through his opponent for positioning. Dandy Step also has a handful of secondary follow ups that turn it into an incredible mix up tool.
There are four follow ups, to be precise, that offer various benefits. Slayer can go into an overhead, a low, a fast strike, or a slower but advantageous strike. A lot of the character’s offense will likely be based around manipulating opponents with all of these Dandy moves.
With all this strike potential staring them in the face, foes might start freezing up as they try to prepare for all possibilities. Developers gave Slayer a nifty advancing command grab called Bloodsucking Universe, which not only doles out some damage but also grants the user a bit of health back.
In addition to all of that, characters who have been hit by Bloodsucking Universe will, for a short while, can be hit with extended combo follow ups from certain moves, and so it seems this final DLC character may be a bit of snowball type oppressor once he gets his offense going.
You can see and hear all about Slayer in the full starter guide below. Check it out and then let us know in the comments if you plan to play him or are fearing playing against him when he drops next week.
