Leak copyright takedown pretty much confirms Mark Hamill's Joker is coming to MultiVersus
Leaks are an unfortunate reality faced by video game developers all over the world that can be tricky to navigate because targeting them can bring more attention.
Last year, we reported on an alleged leak for MultiVersus that suggested Mark Hamill’s Joker would be joining the game, but that audio has since been subject to a copyright takedown — and it’s original poster has been suspended.
Upon data mining the files of MultiVersus, a Twitter user named Laisul posted what sounded like leaked audio lines that are planned to be used in an announcer pack featuring Batman’s top villain back in September 2022.
At some point, however, the video attached to the tweet was taken down with the warning, “This video has been removed in response to a report from the copyright holder.”
You could have gone and seen this on Laisul’s Twitter page, but sometime in the last few days, their account was suspended by the service (though the post is still viewable via the Wayback Machine), which can be enforced after multiple copyright takedowns.
This pretty much confirms the Joker will be coming to MultiVersus at some point because Warner Bros. would have no reason or claim to remove content if it was just something created by an internet troll.
Even though the audio was just for an announcer pack, it’s safe to assume Joker will be part of the roster considering how big of a character he is and the fact there’s only a couple of unplayable announcers in MVS currently.
Laisul couldn’t confirm whether the voice actor behind the lines was indeed Mark Hamill, but it sounded to be the case, which fans would certainly appreciate.
With the sad passing of Batman’s iconic voice actor Kevin Conroy last year, MultiVersus would be one of the last games he and Hamill appeared together in after working with each other for basically 30 years.
It’s still important to take this all with a healthy grain of salt, however, because of course Joker hasn’t been confirmed by WB yet even with the evidence pointing that way.
MultiVersus uncharacteristically hasn’t received a new fighter in over a month now, so we should be hearing about who is joining the crossover fighter next in the very near future.
