LBW Community College is proud to announce the establishment of the Janice Banks Roach Endowed Scholarship, created to honor the legacy of Mrs. Jan Roach and her service to the community and devotion to the youth of the First Methodist Church of Andalusia.

A memorandum of agreement was signed on Jan. 16, 2025, officially endowing the Janice Banks Roach Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to deserving and qualified students pursuing higher education at LBW.

“For me, this scholarship is a continuation of what she did for the church and how we can carry that forward by rewarding students,” said Jan’s husband, John Roach. “We’re so fond of the College too, so it felt like a natural way to honor her.”

One of Mrs. Roach’s four grandchildren, Anabell Bryant, attended LBW in 2019 and earned her associate degree in 2021. Anabell was a member of the Honors Program and performed with the Ensemble. She now works in marketing at Jubilee Decor, a local industrial design company.

Jill Bryant, Anabell’s mother and Mrs. Roach’s daughter, added, “Education has always been top priority for mother and daddy, so it just makes sense that we would honor her memory in this way.”
