Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will play the role of chief host at a special dinner organized by the Lagos State Government for the Super Eagles on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
The event is scheduled just hours before the three-time champions embark on their journey to Cote d’Ivoire for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations finals, which commences this weekend.
Co-hosting the glamorous event will be Sports Development Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh. Distinguished guests at the dinner include Governors Douye Diri (Bayelsa State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa State), and Godwin Obaseki (Edo State).
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, will act as the host. Among the attendees are top officials of the Lagos State Government, parliamentarians, NFF Executive Committee members, representatives of NFF’s corporate partners and sponsors, and select members of NFF Management.
Notable guests also include Hon. Kunle Soname, Chairman and Board of the Lagos State Football Association, former Nigeria captain Dr. Olusegun Odegbami, leading artists, top celebrities, and influencers.
The 25 players selected for Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, along with their officials, will be the vintage guests at the dinner. They will arrive in Lagos aboard a chartered aircraft on Tuesday evening.
Expressing gratitude, NFF President Musa Gusau thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu and his administration for hosting the team at the Send Forth ceremony. He highlighted the significance of the event in boosting the team’s morale and emphasizing the support of Nigerians as they aim for a fourth continental title in Cote d’Ivoire.
