Krossplay temporarily made unavailable for Mortal Kombat 1 players on PC

After waiting a few months beyond its initial release, Krossplay finally joined all of the major systems together for online play for the first time in a Mortal Kombat game.

Earlier today, however, NetherRealm Studios announced they’ve temporarily made cross-platform play unavailable for Mortal Kombat 1 users on PC.

“Krossplay for PC is currently unavailable for maintenance,” reads the official post from Mortal Kombat’s social media. “PC users are still able to play against others on PC, and Krossplay for consoles is still available. Keep an eye on this post for updates.”

No information was provided as to why this is taking place right now or if it’s due to any specific issues impacting the PC version of MK1.

The game did receive a surprise update with balance changes earlier today as well. Our first thought was perhaps the patch wasn’t live on PC yet, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Mortal Kombat 1 already makes PC players pass a benchmark and use a high-speed SSD in order to match make with console players already, and we’re unaware of any widespread issues for Krossplay since release besides anecdotal stories.

As mentioned in the post, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users can still play with each other, and PC players can fight other PC players.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
