King Jae shares new Tekken 8 tier list ranking characters by how strong their Heat Mode is

The topic of tiers in Tekken 8 is a heated one (no pun intended). We’ve been seeing several different characters considered top tier over the last couple of months, and a recent small but interesting balance patch has already seemingly changed things up.

Avid Tekken content creator King Jae has released a brand new tier list, only this time we’re not looking at the characters as a whole. This time, Jae ranks each fighter based on the strength of their Heat Mode capabilities.

Tekken 8’s Heat system is the foundation of the game’s fighting mechanics. With this mode, players can use a variety of powered up techniques to not only tack on big damage, but get better pressure and punishes.

Not all Heats are created equal in Tekken 8, and while they all follow the same basic formula of having activators and engagers, each character gains unique abilities and traits while in this mode.

Jae shared the new Tekken 8 tier list on Twitter today, and he notes what criteria was considered when making the rankings. This Heat Mode tier list was created based on each fighter’s Heat Buffs, Heat Smash, and Heat Engagers.

There are five letter categories on this tier list that range from S Tier (Super Strong) to D Tier (Not Good). Right out of the gate, we see that Jae hasn’t listed anyone in that final “Not Good” ranking, meaning he feels all Heat Modes in Tekken 8 are at least decent.

Many of the fighters people deem top tier right now find their place in the S Tier. Characters like Xiaoyu and King earned S rank on this tier list, and that’s not surprising as King has traits such as regaining Heat meter for landing certain command throws when the mode is active.
