Kieran McKenna is quite the man in demand.

The former Manchester United first team coach has had quite the rise in management. Having worked under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralk Rangnick at Old Trafford, McKenna decided to give it a go in the world of football management.

Taking over Ipswich Town when they were still in League One, McKenna has taken them to the English Premier League. Having only been at the club for two years, that’s two back-to-back promotions that nobody saw coming.

McKenna’s work in management has not gone unnoticed. He has been linked with a range of English Premier League clubs including the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and, of course, Manchester United.

With Erik ten Hag’s future in the balance coming to the end of the season, with a dismal eighth place finish in the Premier League and crashing out of the Champions League group stage, Kieran McKenna was rumoured to be one name drafted by United to potentially take the place of the Dutchman.

He, alongside Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, were reported to be considered to take the helm at Old Trafford.

But a new update has emerged on McKenna’s future this evening.

Manchester Evening News is reporting that McKeena is now expected to sign a new long-term deal with Ipswich Town and stay with The Tractor Boys as they return to the English Premier League ahead of next season.

Ipswich are back in the big time following 22 years out of the English Premier League and will surely be boosted with the prospect of keeping their highly rated manager at the club.

So it seems that McKenna’s future is going to remain in Norfolk, for now at least. And it seems that Manchester United will have to wait a little longer if they want to bring McKenna back to his former place of employment.
