Kiara Hockman leads Jackson gymnastics to invitational win
GYMNASTICS
JACKSON WINS INVITATIONAL Junior Kiara Hockman helped lead Jackson to a win in its own Polar Bear Invitational. Jackson scored 134,500 points to edge Lake (132,850) and Louisville (127,000).
Hockman placed first all-around, winning the vault, beam and floor.
Jackson senior Kyla Yung was second on floor, third on vault and fourth on bars. Sophomore Emmalie Mitzel was third on bars, fifth on beam, and sixth on vault, while junior Hannah Fish was sixth on floor.
Lake’s Noelle Ellison took third all-around to lead the Blue Streaks to their second-place finish. Ellison also placed second on bars.
Louisville was led by sophomore Charlotte Nuesch, who took second on vault, third on floor, ninth on bars and fifth all-around.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
HUDSON 55, LOUISVILLE 53 Despite a 20-point game from senior Kelsey Adelman, Louisville was upset in a Division I Perry sectional semifinal game at home. The Leopards (15-7) entered as the 15th seed, while Hudson (13-9) is the 27th seed.
Sophomore Brooke Haren added 17 points for Louisville, which was hurt by 23 turnovers. Hudson had just 12 turnovers.
