We’ve almost reached the one-year anniversary of Mortal Kombat 1’s initial launch, but there’s an even more important date coming for the game in just a few weeks.
Following after Cyrax and Sektor, Ed Boon just dropped the first teaser for Noob Saibot in MK1’s Khaos Reigns expansion.
Series Co-creator Ed Boon took to social media today to share a 30-second video giving fans a taste of the shadow ninja they’ve been yearning for.
The new footage begins with a pre-fight intro sequence between Noob and Johnny Cage where the twisted Sub-Zero claims he’s “not goth.”
“Dark duds, dark outlook. Dude you’re a goth,” retorts the actor before getting punched in the face.
We’re then treated to a pretty sweet looking string that one would hope for out of Noob using his signature shadow clone and portal to extend beyond his normal range.
As Boon also points out, we get to see a Stryker buff in here too with his double grenades looking like an Ambush Kameo attack now.
Boon says that his full trailer is ‘koming soon’ though he immediately follows that up with the hashtag #PerhapsTomorrow, so we could be seeing more of Noob in action as soon as September 10.
NetherRealm Studios already released the full gameplay trailers for Cyrax and Sektor over the past weeks, so it was only a matter of time before Noob got the same treatment.
It’ll be interesting to see if NRS also reveals the alleged new game modes coming in Khaos Reigns that were leaked / data-mined alongside Noob too.
From what we’ve seen so far, this Noob appears to be the current main timeline’s Bi Han corrupted by Havik after attempting to chase the chaos king through a portal.
Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is scheduled to release on September 24 with Noob Saibot, Cyrax and Sektor as new playable characters alongside a new Story Mode featuring Havik living his best life.
A second set of DLC fighters are slated to drop sometime in 2025 featuring Scream’s Ghostface, the Terminator’s T-1000 and Conan the Barbarian.
We still haven’t heard anything official regarding new Kameo fighters in Khaos Reigns, but Boon did previously tease fans with some potential choices like Chucky — so those may still come at a later date too.
