Earlier this week, Killbox provided a sneak peek at a work-in-progress mod that made Tekken’s Kazuya a playable fighter in Street Fighter 5. Of course, the character was clearly far from being finished considering how weak his hits were.
It seems that Killbox has made more progress on the Kazuya mod as he has more to show this time. Now it would appear that Kazuya has access to his iconic Electric Wind God Fist.
This isn’t the first time that Kazuya employed the Electric Wind God Fist in a 2D fighting game environment. The move tends to be very powerful in both Street Fighter X Tekken and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, especially considering how the usual counters of ducking and sidestepping don’t really work in those games.
Regardless, the move appears to be quite powerful as it’s capable of launching the opponent. After hitting the ground, they’ll go into a tumble state, but Kazuya is apparently still capable of linking into another attack that totals 332 damage.
The electric effect appears to be purple this time around, which is now a trait of Reina’s EWGF from Tekken 8. Since Kazuya started the sequence at point-blank distance from Ryu in the clip, it’s difficult to see just how good of a whiff punish tool this move will prove to be.
Considering that Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui are joining Street Fighter 6 in Season 2 as guest characters along with M. Bison and Elena, the possibility of Kazuya Mishima joining up in a future season feels very real. Though this is a mod, it could very well turn into a reality someday.
