Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, the stars we know and love, have a special reason to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s more than just a day of love for them. It’s the day they got engaged.
The “Firework” singer and the Lord of the Rings actor started their love story back in 2016. Fast forward to Valentine’s Day 2019, and Perry was announcing their engagement on Instagram. She showed off her stunning flower-shaped diamond ring with the caption, “full bloom.”
She later shared the sweet details of the proposal on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “It was very sweet,” she gushed. They had dinner plans, and she thought they were going to see some art afterward. But instead, they ended up at a helicopter.
But, hey, things didn’t go exactly as Orlando had planned. It was a heartwarming gesture, no doubt, but there were some hiccups. Perry, who also judges on American Idol, spilled the beans.
“We had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in his pocket,” she said. Orlando tried to distract her with a note while he got the ring out. But, uh-oh, the champagne broke. “The bottle is everywhere and I’m still looking at the note,” she recalled.
Orlando was struggling with the ring box, too big for his coat pocket. It ended up ripping his coat pocket, and his elbow went into the champagne. Despite the mishap, Perry said Orlando “did so well.” And, of course, she said yes.
The couple, who are parents to three-year-old Daisy Dove, also co-parent Orlando’s son Flynn, 13, from his previous relationship with Miranda Kerr. But they’re not the only celeb couple celebrating an anniversary on Valentine’s Day.
