Katsina CJ Grants Additional 103 Inmates Bail, Frees Three

The Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi, has granted bail to 103 inmates and discharged three others on the grounds of health, prolonged detention, age, and good conduct.

The exercise, conducted on Wednesday as part of the first quarter of the 2025 jail delivery initiative, aims to decongest correctional facilities across the state.

Justice Danladi delegated his authority to High Court Judge, Justice A.B. Bawale, to oversee the process at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Katsina New.

This follows last week’s first phase at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Katsina Old, where 91 inmates were granted bail and four were released.

During the event, the Controller of Corrections, Katsina State Command, Umar Baba, who represented the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Nwakuche, expressed gratitude to the judiciary for its continued collaboration.

He praised the intervention as timely and noted that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.

“This command is among the best in Nigeria in terms of service delivery,” Baba stated.

Also, the Chief Judge provided welfare packages and relief items to inmates who were granted bail and pardoned

Baba urged the freed inmates to stay out of trouble, embrace a crime-free life, and utilise the skills they acquired during their time in custody.
