Kane will only stay at Tottenham if Conte receives transfer backing

Following a disappointing January transfer window for Tottenham, one which caused Antonio Conte to publicly voice his discontent over the dealings, Harry Kane wants assurances from Daniel Levy that the Italian will be backed financially if the striker is to stay at the club.

Kane made his desire to leave Tottenham known last summer, but was blocked from a move to Manchester City by Spurs’ chairman.

The Sun report that the Englishman is now open to continuing at Tottenham but not without guarantees that Conte will be given the chance to sign the players he deems necessary for the club to compete for top honours.

The issue of a lack of transfer funds has been a recurring issue for Tottenham coaches under Levy, and Kane fears that they could stand to lose another world class coach in Conte if he is not backed.

“What happened in January is not easy. Four players left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have arrived,” Conte told Sky Italia.

“So even numerically instead of strengthening yourself, you may have, on paper, weakened.”

“If you want to grow faster and if you want to be competitive faster you need players with a lot of experience.”

Should Kane not receive these assurances, he will look to leave Spurs again in the summer.
