Residents of Fadan Ruruma in Kumana Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have fled their homes following the abduction of 17 people by bandits.
The victims were kidnapped during an attack on the community on Thursday night, Community Development Associations’ (CDAs) forum said the incident occurred last week.
The forum’s PRO condemned the recent attack on Thursday night in Fadan Ruruma, Kwassam Ward, where 17 people were kidnapped. He urged the government to urgently strengthen security measures to protect lives and property.
The forum strongly condemned the incident, describing it as part of the frequent attacks, kidnappings, and killings of innocent people in the area.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Daniel D. Achi, the forum expressed deep concern over the escalating activities of armed bandits, noting that people are “attacked and kidnapped almost daily without fear.”
According to the statement, insecurity has forced many residents to abandon their homes, leaving behind farm produce that is yet to be harvested.
While praying for the safe return of those abducted, the forum recalled that last week, one young man was killed and another injured in Akansa, Rumaya, while many others remain in terrorist captivity.
Achi urged the Kaduna State government and relevant authorities to urgently establish a military strike force in Kauru and Kumana axis to complement the existing unit in Damakasuwa, Chawai Chiefdom.
He also called for immediate measures to curb cross-border attacks, particularly in Chawai Chiefdom, where communities share boundaries with the Basa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The forum appealed to the government to intensify security efforts to safeguard lives and property in the region.
Efforts to get the spokesperson for the state police command, Mansir Hassan, for comment failed as he promised to get back later.
