The Kaduna Capital Territory Authority says it has evacuated 20 refuse dumpsites to improve public health safety within the Kaduna metropolis.
Samuel Aruwan, KCTA administrator, disclosed this on Wednesday in Kaduna.
According to him, the refuse dumps have become threats to the public health of residents within the metropolis, hence the need for urgent evacuation.
He said the agency discovered heaps of refuse in various communities in the metropolis for years.
He listed the communities as Tirkania, Sabon Gari, Old panteka, Zango road Tudun wada, Bashama road, Chechenia market, Unguam Muazu, Nassarawa Kakuri, Unguwan Shanu, Badarawa, Kabala West, Akurki road Tudun wada, Narayi, Isa Kaita road, Abakpa, Malali FGC, Christ Ambassadors college Sabo, Gumi college, Millennium city, Mando and Gonin gora.
Mr Aruwan attributed the menace to improper waste disposal, evacuation of waste on major streets, and strategic entry and exit points in the city.
The administrator assured the public that the agency was progressing towards addressing the slow evacuation of waste while improving service delivery.
