Juventus are already planning their transfer business ahead of the January transfer window, using a recent fixture in England to discuss some deals.
On Wednesday 27th November 2024, Juventus travelled to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa in the Champions League.
The game played out to a goalless draw, with Villa now sitting in 9th place as Juventus sit in 19th. Currently, both teams are set for the Round of 16, however the trip had a duel purpose.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has used Juventus’ UEFA Champions League match to travel to Manchester.
Giuntoli used the trip as an opportunity to discuss the potential offload of Nicolò Fagioli and Douglas Luiz. The Juve sporting director discussed the potential with Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Old Lady are looking to offload the pair of midfielders and in turn, sign a defender and a striker. It’s understood that Juve is aiming to bring in between £16 million to £21 million for Fagioli, and even more for Luiz having spent £41 million on him in the summer.
It’s recently been reported that Juve is looking to United’s Joshua Zirkzee as one of their top attacking options. Initially, the Serie A side were considering a January loan, however are now focusing on a permanent deal in the summer.
New manager Thiago Motta is focusing on Zirkzee after their time together in Bologna which sealed the striker’s move to Old Trafford, albeit against Erik ten Hag’s wishes.
With his limited game time not looking to improve under Ruben Amorim, a summer move from United could be a good move for Zirkzee so that his career doesn’t stagnate.
