Justin Wong shows Smug just how broken and cheap the original Marvel vs. Capcom is by trolling him with all the dirtiest tricks

Modern day fighting gamers complain about all sorts of game mechanics and are quick to label them as broken. But some of the newer players honestly have no idea just how broken and cheap some of the older competitive fighting games truly were.

In his latest video, Smug is given a master class on just how degenerate the original Marvel vs. Capcom was from possibly the most qualified person in the fighting game community to give it — Justin Wong. To quote the legend JWong himself, “you gonna learn today!” and that is exactly what Smug did when these two top players locked horns in MvC1.

The first Marvel vs. Capcom title was a 2v2 versus game that granted each player an additional assist that they could call out into battle. It is no secret that there are a lot of crazy glitches, infinites, and downright nasty set ups in this game, but for someone who never had the chance to really get into this Capcom title, the potential for getting absolutely bodied by any of that stuff is extremely high.

To ease Smug into things, Justin Wong begins by selecting secret character Red Venom. Though this hidden fighter (also known as Hyper Venom) takes double the damage from attacks, he is the fastest character in the entire game and has access to his own set of infinite combos.

Not only does Justin catch Smug with one of these infinites, he also snatches his poor buddy up in a glitch that sees Smug’s Captain America become completely frozen in place. “What happened? Can you move?” Justin asks Smug for maximum trolling.

Throughout this video, Justin and Smug run several matches, and JWong takes the opportunity to demonstrate several of the game’s dirtiest tricks. It’s hilarious to see Justin bring out War Machine and Gold War Machine and completely bombard Smug with missiles that he can do nothing to stop.

This whole set is super entertaining, and obviously JWong doesn’t have any ill intent here. He’s lightheartedly trolling his friend, and in the process is also doing a great job of showing some of the crazier things you can do in Marvel vs. Capcom.
