You’re in for a bit of a different kind of fighting game treat today as two living legends of competitive Street Fighter, Justin Wong and Falcons|MenaRD, go head to head in real life thanks to PlayStation Esports’ new face off interview.
Justin and Mena are joined by Tasty Steve as they take on controversial topics such as who is an overall better player in their prime, who has had the best on stage pop offs, and who the top four FGC competitors of all time are.
Things kick off in a fairly spicy manner as Mena offers some fightin’ words early on. He claims that Justin’s patterns of play are fairly obvious, to the point that he could beat the living legend at both Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 if they were to run a set in either.
Justin retorts with some similar smack talk, describing Mena’s Street Fighter 6 play as somewhat predictable. He claims that Mena’s weaknesses are obvious, and that he could easily predict and outfox him if they were to throw down.
The conversation isn’t all at odds, however, as the pair exchange opinions on more general standout moments and players in the FGC.
They hash out what they think the greatest single FGC moment is, whether or not it’s easier to win tournaments now or in seasons passed, and whether or not Japan is as powerful a fighting game force as its reputation leads us all to think.
The interview finds the perfect blend of fun conflict and informational intrigue as these two titans of the business take playful jabs and share insightful perspectives. You can see the whole thing for yourself right here:
