The first Tekken World Tour season for Tekken 8 is somehow already close to wrapping up its major events, and the strongest players from all around the world are in a heated battle to try and claim the last points up for grabs to earn their way to the finals.
There’s plenty more top-level action going down this weekend at Ultimate Fighting Arena 2024 in Paris, France where the pool has been whittled down from hundreds to just the top 8 remaining.
With the finals for this Tekken World Tour Challenger event now a matter of hours away, we’ve gone back and gathered up the full character stats breakdown for Bandai Namco’s fighter to take a closer look at.
Taking a gander at the top 48 for Tekken 8, we ended up witnessing 25 of the game’s 34 playable characters receive main play with 16 of them being repeat picks.
It probably comes at little surprise at this point that Dragunov would be at the top of the popularity charts here in terms of usage considering that’s been a familiar place for him at majors since the early months of the still fresh title with speed, range and options that keep him a threat no matter who he’s paired up against.
The all but silent man isn’t that far ahead of the competition this weekend, however, considering there were five fighters just one spot behind him including Alisa and Eddy potentially having some of their best major weekend perfomances thus far while Yoshimitsu is continuing to show up with force too.
We did almost get to see Lidia crack the top 8 as well after not having the strongest showing in the months after her release as the second DLC fighter for the game with Falcons|Aqeel9 taking her to a 9th place finish.
As for the top 8, there should be 7 different characters on display between Dragunov, Jin, Feng, Nina, Shaheen, Claudio, and Alisa with Dragunov being the only one to show up multiple times.
While Leroy did at least receive some secondary attention, we ended up missing out on 8 fighters who didn’t seem to show up at all this far in the tournament.
That includes some early season favorites like Jun, who was hit pretty hard with nerfs months ago in the initial balance updates, and newcomer Victor, who has fallen more out of the top meta it seems as time has progressed.
The other exclusions are Asuka, Leo, Panda, Paul, Raven and Zafina.
All in all, the variety in Tekken 8 is almost as good as you could hope for, but it does appear that the likes of Dragunov, Feng, Nina, Shaheen and Claudio rise up to the very top more often than not.
