… I believe the presence of so many high calibre Cross Riverians around Buhari will push Governor Ayade, who is in the opposition PDP to sit up and work much harder in order to get a chance to retain his mandate come 2019.
A Cross River-born Lagos based social commentator, Simon Utsu, who has a reputation for expressing witty thoughts on political, economic, religious, and entertainment, etc related issues have congratulated former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, as a Chairman nominee of NDDC, by President Muhammadu Buhari. He has charged all the Cross Riverians who have benefited from federal government appointments to work in unity and make good uses of their offices to uplift what he referred to as the 'Cross River state infrastructure'.
The witty commentator who drew attention to the remark reportedly made by the first Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Emmanuel Ayandele, whom he said had observed that Cross River is “an atomistic society, perpetually at war with itself”, noted that the appointments into high calibre federal offices will induce the governor of Cross River State to work in view of securing the 2019 governorship ticket. Excerpt:
President Buhari just nominated another Cross Riverian to serve in his government, this time, it was immediate past Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba who was nominated to serve as the Chairman of the NDDC board.
This is yet another juicy position a Cross Riverian is getting. I've lost count (speaking loosely) of the number of Cross Riverians who have gotten appointments under PMB. I don't think there's is any other state in the south which has been this favoured by Mr President.
As for Victor Ndoma-Egba, I congratulate him on this appointment. He is living up to his name-Victor. Even when people thought he was politically annihilated in the aftermath of his run-ins with the former governor of Cross River, Liyel Imoke, he seems to have bounced back in record time.
I also use this opportunity to 'charge' him and the rest of the Federal Cross River contingent to make the best use of this rare opportunity! Let their impact be felt, especially back home. They should work in harmony. I expect them to, to the best of their ability, uplift Cross Riverians and Cross River state infrastructure.
For once, let Professor Emmanuel Ayandele's theory on the attitude of Cross Riverians to their own be proven wrong. Professor Ayandele who was the pioneer VC of the Unversity of Calabar once referred to CRS as “an atomistic society, perpetually at war with itself”.
On to more expectations – politically, I believe the presence of so many high calibre Cross Riverians around Buhari will push Governor Ayade, who is in the opposition PDP to sit up and work much harder in order to get a chance to retain his mandate come 2019.
