We recently noticed Ju Tsukino’s Instagram page where she has posted several photos of herself cosplaying as several female characters from various media. Of course, this includes females from some of our favorite fighting games.
Among the characters that Ju Tsukino hs cosplay, her Morrigan Aensland cosplay really stands out. Notably, Morrigan is a character from the Darkstalkers series that made her debut appearance in Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors on the arcade back in July 1994.
Morrigan is a succubus that was born in 1678 in Scotland. She was adopted by Belial Aensland, the Demon King and only known Class S+ Demon, as he saw potential in her.
With her birth, it was noticed that Morrigan’s power was too great for her to control. To protect her, her father, Belial, split her soul into three fragments.
Of course, Morrigan would keep a third of her power to herself. Belial would absorb the second portion of Morrigan’s power into himself until his death.
As for the final third of Morrigan’s soul, Belial sealed it away. However, this power would eventually become sentient in the form of Lilith Aensland. A body would be created for her by Jedah Dohma.
Unfortunately for fans, the Darkstalkers franchise has been nowhere near as successful as Capcom’s Street Fighter series. Attempts to revive Darkstalkers have largely been unsuccessful.
Luckily, Morrigan is a character that is still able to make appearances in Capcom’s fighting games from time to time. In particular, she almost always appears in Capcom crossover fighting games with other companies.
She’s appeared in games like Namco x Capcom, Cross Edge, Project X Zone, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, and more.
Ju Tsukino has cosplayed as Morrigan both in her default attire and while in a bikini. This fits along with Morrigan’s character as she has the power to change her appearance and even hide her wings.
