JP's OD Amnesia isn't the craziest reversal in Street Fighter history, this is

There’s been a lot of talk about JP’s OD Amnesia counter in Street Fighter 6 since the game dropped last June as players have been frustrated by both its damage potential and its unique utility, sometimes going as far as to argue it being one of if not the best reversal options (moves used to thwart incoming pressure) ever.

OD Amnesia isn’t the main focus of “Street Fighters’ Broken Reversal” Theory Fighter’s most recent video, however, as the thoughtful YouTuber takes us back a few franchise entries to take a look at a defensive tool that was even better.

The game is Ultra Street Fighter 4 and the character is Rose, a fortune-telling soothsayer known for having less conventional but surprisingly effective maneuvers.

Though Rose did have an invincible reversal in USF4 in her EX Soul Spiral, Theory Fighter hones in on a completely different attack: Soul Satellite, her Ultra 2.

When Rose activated Soul Satellite she’d summon two crystal ball-like orbs to spin around her upper torso. Each of these orbs carried a constant hitbox while they were spinning, and thus opponents would be widely discouraged to try to physically attack her while they were out.

Should one of these satellites make contact with her opponent, Rose could easily convert the hit into a combo that would in turn lead to some strong wake up pressure, but we’re here to talk about reversals and despite its utility in plenty of other avenues, Soul Satellite was an absolutely bonkers reversal.

We’ll let Theory Fighter take it from here to explain all the particulars as to why this move wound up being such a ridiculous defensive tool, and would love to hear your thoughts on both Soul Satellite and the most effective reversals in Street Fighter history in the comments after you’ve had a chance to watch.
