Since his summer move from Bologna, Joshua Zirkzee has struggled to make an impact at Manchester United.
After a bright start, including a crucial goal in the opening Premier League match against Fulham, his progress has stalled.
Brought in to act as a link between midfield and attack, Zirkzee was expected to hold the ball up and enable sustained offensive pressure.
However, his performances have been marked by a lack of energy and confidence, with the traits that earned him the move to United not translating into success in the Premier League.
Since his opening-day goal, Zirkzee has failed to find the back of the net again.
The arrival of Ruben Amorim may have further complicated Zirkzee’s situation.
Amorim typically plays with a lone striker who makes runs in behind the defense, supported by two attacking midfielders.
This tactical setup leaves Zirkzee struggling to find a clear role, particularly as Amorim has already preferred Marcus Rashford over him in the center-forward position.
Zirkzee also doesn’t seem well-suited to the No. 10 role.
With Zirkzee potentially falling down the pecking order, rumors have surfaced linking him with a move away from United.
The club has been associated with a number of strikers across Europe, including Matheus Cunha of Wolves.
Cunha has made an excellent start to the premier league season, with 7 goals and 3 assists.
Victor Boniface, Omar Marmoush, and Victor Osimhen have also been linked.
A loan move in January seems increasingly likely for Zirkzee, but where could he go next?
