Current manager of Fenerbahce, Jose Mourinho has cautioned Arsenal about pursuing a transfer deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker has been linked to Arsenal but Mourinho believes that Osimhen’s playing style and behavior may not be suited for the English top flight.
Mourinho compared Osimhen to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, stating that they share similar qualities, but also highlighted Osimhen’s tendency to dive, which could be a problem in the Premier League.
“He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive,” Mourinho said. “If Victor changes, then OK, I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money. However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change, because in Italy they put up with this sort of behavior, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him.”

Osimhen has been impressive in Serie A, scoring 65 domestic goals since joining Napoli in 2020. His pace and power have caught the attention of top clubs, including Arsenal, who are in need of a prolific striker. However, Mourinho’s warning may give Arsenal and Liverpool pause for thought.
Napoli is reportedly willing to let Osimhen go for a fee of $109m, but PSG is also strongly linked with a move for the striker. Chelsea has also been mentioned as a potential destination, but Mourinho’s comments may have given them food for thought.
Osimhen’s potential move to the Premier League will be closely watched, and it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the English top flight. One thing is certain, however – he is a talented player who could make a significant impact at any club he joins.
