United’s former manager Jose Mourinho is looking to be a large obstacle in the Red Devil’s attempts to recruit a much needed left-back.

The Special One has recently been appointed as the new manager of Turkish club Fenerbahce and already the sporting director, Mario Branco, hanging on every word of the Portuguese manager.

Branco has been quoted as saying: “We managed to attract one of the biggest names in world football, the only coach in the world to have won all three European competitions. We know what profiles the coach wants. Thanks to our club president, we are in a position to attack the transfer market how Jose Mourinho requires.”

However, this could spell trouble for United as the Premier League club look to Fenerbahce’s star left-back Ferdi Kadioglu to rebuild the Red Devils’ defence.

Reports from TEAMTalk claim that Mourinho is strongly against the move and is expected to try and block it if possible.

Premier League giants Arsenal actually submitted an offer for the star prior to his impressive performances at Euro 2024. However, the defender held off engaging in talks to concentrate on his international duties, allowing for for United to edge ahead in the race for his signature.

Despite Mourinho attempting to block the move, Dan Ashworth has booked in talks with the 24-year-old’s team to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.

Whilst United still face opposition from Arsenal for Kadioglu, the Gunners are first working on Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori as an option to cover centre-back as well, with Wolves also looking to join the race for Kadioglu.
